Presentation

The six editions of the "Rencontres Recherche et Création", organized by the ANR and the Festival d'Avignon, have shown the relevance of resonating the thinking of works and artists with research in its different disciplines. This resonance highlights two main areas of exploration of the human being and society, the arts and sciences. Artistic works are as much experiences in terms of thought, perception, emotion, as they are explorations of concepts and hypotheses. There is an increase in the number of artistic projects that involve cooperation with researchers, the development of projects combining research and creation, such as, for example, doctorates in art, the use of artistic forms of expression to promote academic knowledge (fiction, comic strips, etc.).

The "Recherche & Création" meeting will bring together artists (authors, directors, composers) and researchers, and will focus on exploring the forms of articulation between creation and research and how these two knowledge regimes can be strengthened from three axes:
- How do works feed on academic knowledge, investigations, testimonies? In what way does the staging, storytelling, images, sounds and academic knowledge allow for new forms of knowledge representation and transmission?
- What are the similarities or differences between research and creation in the process, steps, expectations, validation tests? How can these research and creative experiences be described? What are their irreducible differences?
- How can we work together and build collaboration between researchers and artists? What travel is necessary for researchers during the transition to creation and for artists during the transition to research?
