Presentation
The psychology of commitment explores how our actions influence our opinions and behavior. Engaging in an act, however small, can bring about a profound and lasting change in our opinions and behaviors.
Commitment makes behavior more stable and resistant to change. This dynamic explains why we sometimes persist in choices, even when they become problematic, or why a simple act can pave the way for major transformations.
Understanding these mechanisms sheds light on strategies for supporting change, by prioritizing action over simple argumentation, and taking into account the social and contextual influences that shape our decisions.
