Presentation
The research project contrasts the ideas about language revitalization among policymakers, scholars, and indigenous activists in Ecuador and explores how such ideas have modeled language policies and determined their success or failure. Drawing on the concept of language ontologies – i.e. what is language and what is language for – the project seeks to develop a framework for language revitalization based on languages as commons for local, national and worldwide environmental governance.
