A new academic year at Paris IAS

The Institute is delighted to begin the 2025-2026 academic year with a new cohort of researchers.

An initial cohort of 18 fellows

Starting in September, 18 researchers from different disciplines and nationalities will join the IEA Paris for research stays of various formats.

We are fortunate to welcome, from the beginning of the year, a perfect gender balance.

A class of more than 60 researchers

These 18 fellows are the first cohort of a class that will bring together more than 60 researchers over the course of the year. They were selected for the excellence of their work, invited or recommended by one of the partner universities.

The opening night

On 25 September 2025, the Paris Institute for Advanced Study organised its opening night to present the new cohort of researchers to its partners and public institutions, including: the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, the City of Paris, the Ile-de-France Region, the Academy, the French network of institutes for advanced study, RFIEA, the Nantes Institute for Advanced Studies Le Studium, the National Agency, and the IEA's member universities: the CNRS, Paris I Panthéon Sorbonne University, EHESS, EPHE-PSL, ENS, FMSH, Inalco, Sorbonne Nouvelle, Sorbonne University, Gustave Eiffel University, Paris Cité University, Paris-Nanterre University, and Paris-Saclay University.

Marie-Christine Lemardeley, Deputy Mayor of Paris in charge of higher education, research and student life, gave a welcome speech to the IEA's resident researchers.

The patron of the class

Capture décran 2025 09 30 173250This year, the IEA in Paris is honoured to have Pierre-Michel Menger as its patron. He is a sociologist and professor emeritus at the Collège de France, director of research at the CRNS, director of studies at the EHESS, and a member of the Academia Europaea since 2010 and the Académie des Sciences Morales et Politiques since 2023. His current research focuses on education, careers in research and higher education, meritocracy and its controversies, and the creative process in the arts.
