« Figurer l’aura : une histoire de science, occultisme et visualisation technique ».
Jeremy Stolow is a ten-month research fellow at the IEA in Paris and a professor of communication studies at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada, where he teaches and conducts research at the intersections of religion and media, the history of science, culture and technology, and visual studies. He will discuss his current research on chromotherapy and his latest book, Picturing Aura.
His previous research has focused on the history of Orthodox Jewish print culture, spiritualism and electricity in the 19th century, and the history of efforts to photograph the “human aura” and the life of these images in various fields of parapsychology, art photography, popular culture, and the New Age alternative medical and spiritual market. Over the years, he has been a visiting scholar at Cambridge, New York University, Utrecht University, and the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study, and has participated in numerous collaborative international research projects in the field of religion, media, and culture.
