New cohort of FIAS fellows for 2026–2027

The Paris IAS welcomes its new cohort of international researchers for the 2026–2027 academic year as part of the FIAS program.

Paris, 9 April 2026 – The Paris Institute for Advanced Study (Paris IAS), a research centre specialising in social sciences, humanities and related disciplines, will welcome eight international researchers this coming September for a ten-month research stay, selected under the FIAS program[1] :

  • Will Bateman (The Australian National University)
  • Bram Büscher (Wageningen University)
  • Carola Hein (Delft University of Technology, Ville de Paris Chair)
  • Maurizio Isabella (Queen Mary University of London)
  • Guilherme Lassance Los Santos Abreu (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro)
  • Ya-Wen Lei (Harvard University)
  • Guillaume Sauvé (Université du Québec à Montréal)
  • Fredrik Stiernstedt (Södertörn University, Riksbankens Jubileumsfond Chair)

Selected for the excellence of their work, these international fellows will contribute to the dynamism of the local and national higher education and research ecosystem.

They will collaborate with the Institute’s partners and members: Ville de Paris, the Région Île-de-France, the French Network of Institutes for Advanced Studies (RFIEA) Foundation, the National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and the Environment (INRAE), the Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS), the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS), the École normale supérieure de Paris (ENS-PSL), the École Pratique des Hautes Études (EPHE-PSL), the Fondation Maison des Sciences de l'Homme (FMSH), the Institut national des langues et cultures orientales (INALCO), Sorbonne Université, Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne, Université Paris Cité , Université Gustave Eiffel, Université Paris-Nanterre, Université Paris-Saclay, and Université Sorbonne-Nouvelle Paris 3.

This first cohort will be joined throughout the year by fellows from different disciplines and countries, participating in a variety of research projects and stays of varying lengths.

By welcoming high-level international researchers, the Paris IAS pursues its mission of supporting fundamental research and promoting interdisciplinary dialogue, contributing to our understanding of the world and its transformation.

About the Paris Institute for Advanced Study

As a place for work, encounters and intellectual stimulation, the Paris IAS supports high-level international research and develops cross-sectoral collaborations with the aim of helping society to better understand the world and the changes it is undergoing. The Institute was founded in 2008 under the auspices of the Fondation Maison des sciences de l’homme, the École des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS) and the École normale supérieure. In 2011, it became an autonomous institution, supported by the Ville de Paris, the main universities and research institutions in the Région Île-de-France, as well as by the FMSH and the Île-de-France Regional Council. It receives support from the "France 2030" program through the RFIEA+ Laboratory of Excellence.
