On the occasion of the forthcoming (fourth) edition of Calendrical Calculations: The Ultimate Edition (Cambridge Univ. Press), co-authored with Ed Reingold, we take a whirlwind tour of some of the world’s multitude of past, present, and future calendrical systems. Concentrating on calendars of historical significance, the sampling will include the Egyptian, Babylonian, Julian, Coptic, Hebrew, Islamic, Hindu, Mayan, Chinese, Gregorian, Persian, French, and Martian.
