The new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 is a global burden for public health. In this lecture I will give an introduction into the biochemistry of the virus and highlight currently ongoing research in our laboratory aiming to target the proteases of SARS-CoV-2. We will explore how the field of chemical biology can contribute to the functional understanding of SARS-CoV-2 and aid the development of potential drugs.
