AI and justificatory explanations for legal decisions
Workshop organized by Henrik Palmer Olsen, Professor of Jurisprudence at the University of Copenhagen Law School (UCPH) and 2023-2024 research-fellow at the Paris IAS, and Mathilde Cohen, Professor of Law at the University of Connecticut and 2024-2025 research-fellow at the Paris IAS, to mark the launch of the LEXplain project.

Presentation
The event is a workshop to discuss about AI and justificatory explanations for legal decisions. The workshop is a kickoff event for a research project that 2023-2024 IAS Fellow Henrik Palmer Olsen has acquired funding for through the Norwegian Research Council (entitled LEXplain). The research relates to and continues work he did during his stay at the Paris IAS. For the event Parisian researchers with an interest in the field of law and AI will be invited to discuss the theme on the background of a working paper developed by the core research team in the LEXplain project
