The Paris Institute for Advanced Study (Paris IAS) is a research institute that hosts leading international researchers in the humanities and social sciences for six-month or one-year research stays, and experiments with innovative forms of collaborative research involving the non-academic sector. It promotes interdisciplinary exchange and the development of links between its residents and the scientific community in Paris and the Île-de-France region, thereby contributing to the international influence of French social sciences and humanities.

Several research institutions in the Île-de-France region are members and partners of the Paris IAS. The institute maintains close ties with them with a view to fostering scientific interaction in the field of social sciences and humanities and beyond.

To this end, the Paris IAS hosts scientific events organised by its partners each year at its premises in the Hôtel de Lauzun, on the Île Saint-Louis, a remarkable 17th-century heritage site made available to it by the City of Paris.

This call for proposals offers researchers and lecturer-researchers from the Paris IAS’s partner institutions the opportunity to submit a proposal for a scientific event they wish to see hosted at the Institute.

This call for proposals covers the period from January to December 2027, for which each member institution is allocated a total of three days.

For each event, the Paris IAS will make its meeting rooms and equipment available free of charge to the organisers of the selected events. It does not provide funding, so the organiser must cover any additional costs.

Hosting conditions

The Paris IAS has two meeting rooms, located in the heritage section of the building:

In both rooms, the Paris IAS can provide organisers with: chairs, tables and a lectern, a laptop, a screen and a video projection system. The Salle des Gardes also has sound equipment (microphones and amplifiers).

Subject to coordination with the Paris IAS team, it is possible to organise coffee breaks, lunches and cocktail receptions in the courtyard or the Institute’s cafeteria on the ground floor (depending on the number of guests, see the welcome brochure).
