Presentation
Through the relationships between societies and environments, environmental history takes a fresh look at the lives of human groups. At the Centre de recherches historiques (CRH), members of the Groupe de recherches en histoire environnementale (GRHEN) are developing work on a wide variety of periods and themes that place nature at the heart of historical developments and social change. This seminar is a place for debate, socialization, and learning for researchers and students interested in environmental history in all its ramifications and interactions with other historiographies. The environmental question does not simply open up another “studies” field, but invites us to reconsider the writing of history in general.
