Presentation
Metabolism is a scientific concept denoting processes by which organisms assimilate food and manage oxygen originating in 19th century cell theory. Playing a fundamental role in knowledge of life in biochemistry, ecology and philosophy, it also drove the industrial remaking of food and growth with metabolic agents and chemistries. This project traces a metabolic history of society, from the industrialization of metabolism in the 20th century to its consequences for metabolic disorder today.
